Daily Art 2019 – February

In February, I wanted to refocus on a concept I’ve chosen a few times while studying my textiles degree the past few years. Collections. I have always seemed to collect something. Maybe that’s just the creative hoarder in me.

I decided on looking at the junk I carry around with me on a daily basis and draw all the stuff that is in my trusty backpack.

Daily Art 2019 – January

Every day this year, I am trying to produce at least one creative thing. That might be a drawing or doodle, or something completely random. To start with, I decided to follow a specific theme to get myself into the habit of creating something everyday.

For January, I chose the theme of Tropical Flora to help myself get over the dark weather of a British winter along with the post-Christmas slump.

Embroidery Project

I was recently asked by my uni tutor to take part in a research project involving embroidery. The research was looking at people who have taught some kind of lesson, be it a family member, a friend, or a teacher. The idea was to create a portrait of that chosen person out of stitch onto the fabric provided and write a small paragraph about what lesson that person has taught. I chose my mother, since she has taught me far more than any academic teacher ever has.

This was the final outcome of my piece. Unfortunately i will not be able to get this piece back as its going into an archive along with the other participants work. I am looking forward to see what my tutor has planned for these pieces when the time comes to display them as planned.
